Taigy Thomas-Gooding, DrPH, A South Los Angeles native with a strong commitment to public health and social justice, Dr. Thomas-Gooding brings over 20 years of strategic planning, fund development, evaluation, teaching, program planning and management experience to the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare system (VISN 22). In addition to teaching college level Statistics, Program Planning & Evaluation, and Theoretic Perspectives on Violence, Dr. Thomas-Gooding has held senior-level positions in nonprofit, corporate, and academic research settings. She is the author of several articles and book chapters on community participation approaches and best practice strategies in under-served communities and communities of color. Currently, she serves as the Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation & Policy (CSHIIP) Administrative Officer. As the Administrative Officer she, provides scientific management and administrative leadership to the VA Greater Los Angeles Health Service Research & Development (HSR&D) Center. She coordinates with the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System’s Research Service and the diverse programs of the Center and is primarily responsible for monitoring research project personnel, finances, property, facilities, space, reports, fellowship administration, training, education, contracting and center evaluation. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine. Her Doctorate is from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Public Health in Community Health Sciences, with a minor in Biostatistics.
