Center for Healthcare Innovation, Implementation, and Policy

CSHIIP’s Mission is to develop and test innovative care models, health systems interventions, and implementation strategies that markedly improve Veterans’ health and health care in partnership with the VA leaders, providers/staff and Veterans we serve. Our Vision is to achieve VA innovation and exceptional outcomes through evidence generation, implementation and sustainment in areas of high priority and high impact, adapting to changing VA contexts. The Center’s deep ties with multilevel stakeholders in and outside VA help us not only design work embedded in VA and anchored in Veteran needs but also enable meaningful, proactive research planning to meet future healthcare needs. We will leverage our 25-year focus on provider behavior and organizational behavior and implementation science to achieve our priority goals:

#1 To create and/or evaluate pathways to improve timely access to care, care coordination, and health outcomes among high-risk/high-need Veterans through innovative care models in primary and specialty care;

#2 To improve access to and delivery of timely, appropriate women’s health care through novel interventions and advances in health services research, implementation science, and quality improvement;

#3 To develop, tailor, and implement effective practices to improve population health, homelessness, and other health-related social factors.
