Dr. Donna Washington, Leadership Committee member and Co-Director of the Population Health, Homelessness, and Other Health-Related Social Factors Research Impact Goal for the VA HSR Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation & Policy (CSHIIP) at VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLA), is the Director/PI of the VHA Health Equity-Quality Enhancement Research Initiative National Partnered Evaluation Center (Health Equity-QUERI PEC). She is also an Internal Medicine physician at GLA, and Professor of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Washington is a nationally recognized expert on Veterans' health and health care access, quality, and outcomes, with a focus on understanding correlates of unwanted variation in VA care and outcomes. Dr. Washington's research has impacted national VA health care delivery, policies, and strategic planning related to health equity and women’s health and was recognized by her receipt of the 2020 Under Secretary’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Health Services Research, special recognition by the VA Secretary during 2023 VA Research Week, and 2024 election into the National Academy of Medicine.
