Dr. Elizabeth Yano is Director and Senior Research Career Scientist at the HSR Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation & Policy at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, and UCLA Professor of Medicine and Health Policy & Management, and holds an endowed Chair in Medicine as well. She received the 2012 Under Secretary’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Health Services Research and was inducted into the UCLA Alumni Hall of Fame for the Breslow Lifetime Achievement Award. Trained in health care epidemiology, biostatistics and health policy at UCLA and RAND, Dr. Yano has over 35 years' experience in health systems research and is a nationally recognized expert on organizational influences on quality of care and implementation of evidence-based practice and policy. She is nationally recognized for her leadership in establishing the VA women’s health research agenda, developing the foundations necessary for systematically improving women Veterans’ health and health care. She is PI of the VA Women’s Health Research Network, leading a national consortium of hundreds of VA researchers through provision of education/training, mentorship, methods consults and dissemination support, and co-leading the VA Women’s Health Practice-Based Research Network.
